Our big man is off the ventilator! He did great. He’s being given a low flow of humidified air to help keep his poor airway happy. He’s being great though. Quiet and uneventful is a good thing. He’s still being given antibiotics to make sure any infection is being taken care of. They’re slowly starting to introduce food back into his belly, which I’m sure he’s very happy about. He hadn’t had a feed since 4am Thursday. They’ll be keeping him down in the ICU again tonight as a precaution, but if he stays like this he should be heading back up to his room tomorrow. Here he is doing his best unimpressed/the rock face. I’m so happy to see him alert and himself again. Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. They’re very appreciated.

I'm a wife, mother, sister, friend, daughter and above all a wonderfully strange lady. In 2018 I experienced Death and Grief on the grand scale when my 6 week old son died in my arms. His death led me down this path. I chose to very openly share my journey through this feared and alien experience. What started as a personal blog has evolved into this, a hope to change how to learn, support and approach Death and Grief in all its dark glory. View all posts by Sheri Waddell
